Please bear with me as something new blossoms in my life. Scott and I spent yesterday trying to redo my blog. I had to say goodbye to Barefoot and embrace Farming Faith. Hope none of you were online last night trying to read my blog, what a mess! But this morning it’s up and running– far from perfect– but running, which really fits me, the whole far from perfect but running thing.
As the sun set last night, before we tackled changing my blog, Scott and I walked out into West Butte Orchards blooming trees. This picture is of the nectarines. The cherries are thinking about popping and the peaches are just around the corner about to bloom. The bees sounded like a midair freight train, buzzing like a machine as they worked the blossoms.
There is nothing like spring in Northern California. So pregnant with hope. So bright with the first flowering of everything. All this birthing of beauty. Just down the road the new lambs are tottering beside their mothers. Our chickens are getting the hang of egg-laying again. The Sutter Buttes are green like Ireland. I love my home.
Everything seems possible right now.
And I’m finally embracing what I was meant to do. Write honestly about life, love, and farming. Of course God is in all this. Where isn’t God on this earth?
So thank you everyone for waiting for this new thing to fully flower here. I will be adding West Butte Orchards and recipes to my webpage soon, along with hopefully getting my new book Farming Grace done and readable. I also will be flying to Washington D.C. in less than a week to speak at a ladies retreat. The church sent me a ticket, said they’d take good care of me, and asked me to do a reading of the first chapter of Farming Grace. Oh my goodness!
I’m scared, excited, and feel like our peach trees. Not blooming yet, but thinking about it. Thanks so much for saying a prayer for me. Change unnerves me.
Happy Valentine’s Day dear friends!
Love, Paula
