Merry Christmas 2025 from our family to yours…

This year has gone by like a runaway horse. I’ve ridden runaway horses. You hold on for dear life, hope for the best, and pray. We are so thankful God has been so good to us as the year has raced away! Our kids are all doing well. Cami is back working in the classroom and getting her teaching credential. Happy New Year 2025

Our family had a great, big year! Two weddings, a birth announcement, and two more sons joined the military. But let’s begin at the beginning. Last January we celebrated Garry James birthday in Olympic Valley. Garry and Christian enjoy snowboarding, and the Sierras were full of snow a year ago. I’m happy to report this year is very snowy as well and we will be returning to Tahoe soon to celebrate Garry James’s seventeenth birthday. Out with the old and in with the new… I’ve never really related to this saying. I like my old boots. My old dog. My old friendships, although I did make some delightful new friends in 2023. Merry Christmas 2023 from our family to yours…

It’s the Christmas season. I love all the sparkling lights, the scent of pine, and a fire crackling in the hearth. Our house heater has been kaput for years. To replace it we’ll have to sell one of the boys, so we heat our home with only a wood-burning fireplace. Keeping the home fires burning is a thing. A hard and trying thing. We Need Your Prayers for Baby Issac

We have been on a rollercoaster since last Thursday when baby Isaac was born to Lacy and Jake. He arrived three weeks early at 8 pounds 1 ounce and began having breathing problems soon after his birth. Issac was put in the NICU at our local hospital and things went downhill. By Saturday, he was shipped to UC Davis Children’s Hospital. During transport, they nearly lost him in the ambulance. Isaac arrived in Sacramento in critical condition. They did an emergency procedure to save his life, inserting a chest tube into his little body. The doctors didn’t know if he’d […]

Every Cover Tells A Story…

Every book cover tells a story. During the covid lockdown, I began writing River of Mercy, but the seed of the story had been germinating in my mind for years. In my 20s, I wrote feature stories for a daily newspaper. As a young reporter, I joined the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department to cover a story on boating safety. For a week in the late 1990s, I rode in the Sheriff’s speed boat patrolling the Sacramento River.
